Oil Studies
In preparation for a larger oil painting I wanted to discover what a knife would do with texture.
I often paint or draw from my mind's eye but in this instance I intentionally responded to the action and dynamics of a palette knife. Three of these studies all paint is applied with a knife. Two use brush to work out color and space.
These oil paintings were Christmas gifts to my family for Christmas 2014. I very much enjoyed doing them. A personal expression is better gift than anything purchased retail. I call it a win-win.
